About Downtown

Our Story

With a rich history dating back to the city’s incorporation in 1887, Downtown Kennesaw is on the move today as a thriving city center and community hub. Mixed with the charm of brick walkways and hometown appeal, discover inviting restaurants, delectable treats, trendy shops and treasured antiques alongside a variety of attractions like the Southern Museum, a Smithsonian Affiliate, or the City’s Depot Park. Downtown Kennesaw plays host to an array of festivals and events throughout the year from the annual Big Shanty Festival or Pigs & Peaches BBQ Festival to the local Farmer’s Market, summer concerts and more. Downtown is designated as an entertainment district, allowing visitors to take their beer, wine or cocktail on the go as they walk around the district.

The Kennesaw Downtown Merchants Association is an active organization of Downtown businesses providing a variety of shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities for Kennesaw’s residents and visitors to enjoy. The Merchants Association is also co-host of the popular First Friday Concert Series which runs from May through October.
