Depot Park, located in Downtown Kennesaw at 2828 Cherokee Street, sits across from the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History. This Park serves as a scenic backdrop for many City events, offers passive recreation for residents and warmly welcomes visitors to the community.
The Park features several amenities, including an open playfield, walking trail, benches, the historic Train Depot, the Community House, the Tunnel Outdoor Classroom and The Piedmont Bank Amphitheater. The Community House, built in 1890 by Benjamin H. Carrie, a local merchant, adds to the park’s charm. The Train Depot, constructed in 1908 by the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railroad, originally served as a freight and passenger depot, with two passenger waiting rooms added in the 1920s. Now, the City has restored the depot to serve as a centerpiece for City-sponsored events and activities year-round.
The Tunnel Outdoor Classroom provides seating for up to 60 attendees, making it an ideal spot for small performances and lectures, with limited electrical capabilities. Located near Cherokee Street and Big Shanty Drive, The Piedmont Bank Amphitheater at Depot Park boasts a 50 x 42 ft stage with a back-of-house area and can accommodate up to 3,000 people on its lawn. It serves as the venue for many of Kennesaw’s annual events, including Salute to America and A Day with Santa, along with various other celebrations throughout the year.
