The Brown Dog Bookshop is an independent bookstore offering a thoughtfully curated selection of books, gifts and literary finds for readers of all ages. Opened in Downtown Kennesaw in 2025, the shop was founded by Kennesaw resident Kelly Lee as a lifelong dream inspired by her love of reading and the countless hours she spent browsing bookstores with her father.

The Brown Dog Bookshop was named in honor of Lee’s beloved dogs, whose playful spirit and companionship inspired the store’s identity. Carolina Jasmine, a Boykin spaniel and the inspiration behind the shop’s logo, is remembered as the store’s “Chief Doggo Emeritus,” while Highland Azalea and Mara Magnolia serve as the current “Chief Sweetness Officer” and “Chief Cuteness Officer.” True to its name, The Brown Dog Bookshop welcomes both book lovers and their canine companions, creating a warm and welcoming gathering place for readers to connect through books, conversation and community.
